Riot police raided State Broadcaster building

From about 3 am there is an ongoing police operation at the State Broadcaster building of ERT in Agia Paraskevi in the presence prosecutor to address recommendations to the workers to leave without the need of case files and arrests. The prosecutor acted as a negotiator and counted the ERT equipment and said there is no damage. Outside the building of ERT, which will be sealed and guarded by police forces, are the POESY and ESIEA presidency and SYRIZA MPs.

The operation began with strong riot forces, which made limited use of chemicals. They made four arrests but shortly before 8 am the arrestees were released.



Early morning there was tension as riot police forces pushed workers and the people that were on Mesogeion Avenue.

Minor use of chemicals while police was pushing journalists and people. The upward stream of Mesogeion remains closed.

ERT workers and trade unionists call on people to go to broadcaster’s building to express sympathy and complain about the operation, while a rally is being scheduled for 4 pm at the Aghia Paraskevi Square.



Hundreds of people are currently on Mesogeion Avenue. Amongst them are SYRIZA MPs Voutsis, Stratoulis, Lafazanis and Karagiannidis, the ESIEA president Maria Antoniadis, and the singer Vasilis Papakonstantinou.
