Taxi drivers, along with their families, are parked outside the Infrastructure ministry this morning, protesting against the deregulation of their profession.

They are continuing their strike indefinitely and will meet with the Infrastructure minister, Giannis Ragkousis. At some point during the day, the Governing Council of their Federation will convene in order to determine their further actions.

Professional taxi drivers are apologizing to passengers, as they will not be able to meet their transport needs. For health emergencies there will be security vehicles at radio taxi stations across the country.

At 11am taxi drivers in Achaia and Aitoloakarnania will lift the bars of the toll station at the Rio bridge.

They are also planning to line up their cars along the Athens-Lamia and Athens-Corinth highways, at the Afidnes and Elefsina tolls respectively, lift the bars and let the cars pass freely.

Their announcement reads: “The 48hr strike is prolonged indefinitely, since there is no development and no meeting with the relevant ministry. The strike will continue and for the time being, it does not have a specific end date”.
