Stournaras: We are 10 billion euros away from an agreement
"10 billion euros separate us from reaching an agreement on the Greek debt," Finance minister Yannis Stournaras said from Brussels on Thursday evening.
UPD:
"10 billion euros separate us from reaching an agreement on the Greek debt," Finance minister Yannis Stournaras said from Brussels on Thursday evening.
The minister added that the negotiations for the Greek issue will continue on Monday and the cost of failure to reach an agreement on Greece "will be greater than the amount that separates us."
According to statements by a Greek government official, the agreement is delayed because Greece's creditors have not yet decided about the reduction in the interest rate on the country’s loans and because there is the possibility of a compromise with the creditors in order to reduce the Greek debt to 124 % of the GDP by 2020.
As for the issue of repurchasing the Greek debt, the funding of the program through the EFSF support mechanism is an option currently being considered.
