A Greek film directed by Panos Koutras will make its debut at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, after being selected by officials to be screened in the “Un Certain Regard” section
The film “Xenia” describes the story of two brothers, 16 and 18, who go in search of their Greek father after their Albanian mother's death. In their quest, they travel from Crete to Thessaloniki and face the problems of their relationship, issues of youth, a dream that it must become reality and a country that refuses to recognise them.
The film's participation in Cannes festival is “a happy moment in its long and difficult production, which, like the film's heroes, dealt with the tough reality and the difficulties of a co-production,” the director said. “I hope that this amazing event, which gives us great joy, would be the beginning of the end of all of the film's difficulties,” he added.
