5,000 teachers, 3,500 police officers and ministry employees to be transferred

According to the information so far, officials have already found the 12,500 employees that will be transferred. Some are expected to move directly through transfers and others via redundancy. In particular, 5,000 teachers and 3,500 employees of the municipal police are expected to move through redeployment. 2,500 employees of the Education Ministry and 1,500 of the general government are expected to be suspended, in order then to be transferred. Their suspension will be reduced to 6-9 months. After that, any employee that is not transferred will be permanently laid off.

Regarding the transfer of 3,500 municipal police officers in the ranks of the Hellenic Police, the proposal has already been accepted in principle by the auditors and the Ministry of Public Order, as it solves many staff problems.

It is estimated that a probable transfer of municipal officers in the Hellenic Police would release staff currently dealing with bureaucratic or low intensity operations and increase the effectiveness of the Force.

As far as the area that will give the other 12,500 civil servants that must be moved by the end of 2013, former Interior Minister Stylianidis has already prepared a plan with 2,741 internal transfers.

The 15,000 layoffs by the end of 2014 will come from those who will not be reinstated in the new public broadcaster and those working with injunctions.
