Single payroll for both public and private sectors…
The submission of the single payroll, which will bring about a major reversal in the family planning of hundreds of thousands of public employees, is just a matter of time now. reversal in the family planning of hundreds of thousands of public
employees, is just a matter of time now. The issue was discussed
yesterday by Evangelos Venizelos and Dimitris Reppas. It should become
state law within August and fully implemented in the next three years.
Venizelos agreed with Reppas to speed up the bill that will provide for cuts in public wages, slashing nearly 100 benefits, and maturities every 5 yrs and not every 2 as is today, which translates into actual wage cuts of up to 10%.
The basic principle of the single payroll will be equal pay for equal work, regardless of the nstitution or ministry to which a person belongs, and there will be a gradual convergence of wages in the public sector with those of the private one.
The new payroll will only retain the family allowance, the allowance of position, academic bonuses (Master's, PhD) and productivity bonuses that will be linked to group and individual goals and will be paid after a review.
Contrariwise, a series of specific benefits will be cut and a part of general allowances will be integrated into the basic salary.
It should be certain that wages of newly hired personnel will be equal to those of their colleagues in the private sector.

The data for the formulation of the single payroll will originate with the Unified Authority for Payments, while the final plan will be developed in collaboration with the Finance ministry, based on studies that have been conducted so far.
The special payrolls will be retained but will adapt to the new logic of the single payroll to alleviate disparities between employees with equal qualifications. It is clear that those involved (judges, professors, etc.) will still receive an array of benefits, but the salaries of employees that can be compared with their counterparts in other ministries will be adjusted.
