The current “trend” of shrinking and regrouping that the Greek government has shown is portrayed in the Greek family as well. After Proto Thema reporting, we realized that not only do young professionals between the ages of 25 and 35 return to their parents' homes, but also families unite when couples live with their parents and in-laws in order to deal with the very difficult financial situation.
A characteristic example is Stavros P., married with two children, who recently decided to move in with his in-laws with his wife and children. They bought their house 12 years ago when they got married, but are now renting it out in order to be able to pay their mortgage. So 6 people are now living in 90 sqm. Their example illustrates something that is happening all around Greece due to the unbearable bills and expenses as well as the motgage payments which have increased due to the crisis.
