Train crash in Menidi, Athens (upd)

A passenger train en route (from Athens) to Chalkida collided with a smaller helper train at Menidi station, Attica, injuring six persons.

A passenger train en route (from Athens) to Chalkida collided with a smaller helper train at Menidi station, Attica, injuring six persons.
 
Among the wounded are five passengers and the driver of the smaller train.

Traffic police said that the helper train was most probably behind the bigger one and when the latter stopped at the station, the former smashed into it.

For the moment, the conditions in which the crash occurred remain unknown and are under investigation. According to witnesses, a possible tragedy was avoided thanks to the readiness of the train driver.
