Venezuela: A close associate of Hugo Chavez was murdered

He escaped death twice, the first time with a miraculous recovery after he was shot and the second time after being involved in a car accident. The third time, however, he wasn't able to cheat death.

A close associate of the late president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, and former chief of intelligence services, Eliezer Otaiza was found dead in Caracas, with four bullet wounds on his body.

Local authorities investigating the case announced that they have arrested a suspect for the murder of Otaiza and, as the investigation progresses, there will be more arrests.

However, Interior Minister Miguel Rodriguez Torres did not reveal the identity of the arrested person.

48-year old Otaiza was particularly dear to Chavez, who pronounced him "a hero" and "a true soldier". Venezuela's president, Nicolas Maduro, said the fight must go on, in honor of Otaiza's memory.
