The … “monsters” of Beetroot travel to New York
"Alexander Onassis" Foundation in New York presents the original exhibition of Beetroot Design Group, a visual communication agency, entitled "The misunderstood monsters of Greek mythology".
"This is a humorous and interactive exhibition for children and adults, that highlights the Greek creativity and imagination", stated the executive director of the Onassis Foundation in US, Ambassador Lukas Tsilas.
The exhibition was first presented at the Benaki Museum a year ago and it consists of installations, three-dimensional sculptures and digital "invisible monsters" which become visible, are completed and come to life through "smart" electronic devices such as tablets and smartphones.
The exhibition was created under in light of the Beetroot Design Group - a communication agency in Thessaloniki – being awarded the highest distinction in the field of communication design at international level and it is presented for the first time in New York, thanks to the help of the Onassis Foundation.
As stated by the organizers, the exhibits serve on a primary level as modern artistic creations based on Greek mythology, and on a secondary level as an excuse to introduce the elements of creation and development.
Finally, it is noted that through these "monsters", the creators attempt to reverse – with humor – the negative socio-economic image of Greece abroad, while presenting universal philosophical stands and practices of modern design.
The exhibition «The Greek Monsters by Beetroot» aims to promote the more positive side of modern Greece.
Due to the renovation of the exhibition venue of the Onassis Foundation, the exhibition will be presented at the Atrium of "Olympic Tower" in Manhattan.
According to Mr. Chilla , the first major exhibition to be presented in the renovated showroom will be entitled “The Hereafter” (note: the English title will be “After life”) and the opening will take place in March next year. The exhibition will be first presented at the Cycladic Art Museum in Athens.
