Golden Dawn leader Nikos Michaloliakos was deemed imprisoned at dawn Thursday, accused of entering and directing a criminal organization.

The investigators of the case with the consent of both prosecutors reserved the same criminal treatment for GD Nikaia leader, George Patelis, who is involved in the murder case of Pavlos Fyssas in Keratsini. Michaloliakos and Patelis were taken to the police headquarters until being transferred to jail.

Michaloliakos was led to court shortly after 19:30 Wednesday accompanied by strong police forces, while his plea was completed after 2 in the morning. Five more of the arrested GD members were transferred to the courts along with Michaloliakos, including George Patelis, who was also deemed imprisoned.

According to information, the Golden Dawn leader claimed that the recorded telephone calls from the local organization leader to landlines after the murder of Pavlos Fyssas in Keratsini, were numbers Michaloliakos had bestowed the offices of the party and therefore, according to his defense of no evidence that the accused local leader spoke with the Golden Dawn leader.

For this reason, he allegedly asked the investigators to proceed with the lifting of "substantial secrecy" to publish the recorded conversations if these exist. According to the documents "during the period from 10:13 a.m. on 18/9/12013 (the morning after Pavlos Fyssas murder) to 12: 37 p.m. Michaloliakos receives many incoming calls from a phone belonging to the Nikaia leader.

During his plea, the GD head argued that his prosecution is political, he regrets the murder of Pavlos Fyssas, condemns violence wherever it comes from, does not know if some GD members had unlawful behavior, GD only had legislative action and he is not a Nazi supporter.

The next day

Legal circles believe that with the detention of the GD head the manifestation of support will be a new starting point for the organization.

Even in prison, Michaloliakos will be able to make many moves, as it will be extremely difficult for the prosecuting authorities not to allow him to participate in parliamentary activities of his party.
