There is a copy of Papakonstantinou’s doctored memory stick

According to reports, the USB stick now in the hands of the economic prosecutors Grigoris Peponis and Spyros Mouzakitis, investigating the Lagarde list case, was allegedly copied around July 8-11, 2011.

 

Yannis Diotis was SDOE chief at that time, having taken over on May 2, 2011, but nobody knows yet if this is another copy of the disputed file. All this information seems to be included in the case file that has been drafted by the economic prosecutors.

 

In that particular time, the file was not yet in the hands of then Finance minister and current PASOK president Evangelos Venizelos, but possibly came to him in August of the same year, when he was informed by Diotis.

 

Yorgos Papakonstantinou has said that he copied the original CD of the list in late 2010, when he received it from the French Foreign ministry, and gave the file to Diotis on June 17, 2011, when he resigned from the ministry.

 

This development seems to leave Venizelos outside any frame of responsibilities; he said he was briefed by Diotis about the existence of the list in August 2011.

 

Months later, and after the revelations by Proto Thema concerning the lost Lagarde list, specifically in early November 2012, Venizelos said that he sent the file he received from Diotis to Maximos Mansion, which was then forwarded to the Financial Crime Unit to initiate the relevant investigations.
