Venizelos: Whoever wants to create a party can go ahead and do it

Referring to the dissidents and some leading members of PASOK, Evangelos Venizelos spoke of "derogatory and egotistical behavior that is unworthy of any comment".

Asked about the rumors regarding some members’ intention to create a new party, the PASOK president said "whoever wants to create a party can go ahead and do it. Whoever wants to come down to the people and test their strength, they can do that too. Anyone who has an identity problem, whether they belong to PASOK or not, need not be troubled. There are many young people who are aligned with PASOK’s new effort."

Speaking on Vima FM, he said the program of fiscal adjustment will not pan out without an extension, and that he never spoke of renegotiation, but of a review of the adverse conditions of the memorandum.

As for the referendum, Venizelos argued that from the beginning he opposed G. Papandreou's idea which, as he said, he learned about only at the parliamentary group meeting.

He added that had it not been for the referendum idea, Papandreou will probably still be the president of PASOK, that their communication is excellent and regular and he includes him to the plans for the reconstitution of PASOK.
