Wide meeting at Maximos Mansion on Tuesday
Transfers and auctions in the Greek government agenda
The government returns to its normal state today as Samaras will be at Maximos Mansion and has asked the ministers to be in their positions too.
Already for Tuesday he has planned a wide meeting of ministers, deputy ministers and departmental officials that have pending issues with the Troika.
Transfers and layoffs of civil servants, budgetary holes and the issue of lifting the ban on auctions for the first home are the issues to be addressed in the meeting. The government must also promote the privatization program that has been delayed.
The climate is heavy after the removal of TAIPED president Stavridis, who shortly after the sale of OPAP went to his summer destination on the private aircraft of one of the buyers.
Regarding the transfers of public employees, Samaras has asked his ministers to submit the lists to the Minister of Administrative Reform by the end of the month. The government wants to finish its obligations until September 21, when Troika will return for another inspection.
The lifting of the ban on auctions will also be on the agenda. The Minister of Finance has opened it during the summer and returned yesterday with an announcement which highlights the main argument that the ban should be lifted to ensure the public’s faith in mortgages and to rescue the Greek banks. Stournaras is in consultation with Samaras and deputy PM Evangelos Venizelos.

Already some MPs pave the way by showcasing the measures to protect the socially weak. However, there is a significant number of parliamentarians who are not convinced and believe that the promotion of this measure in conditions of economic deprivation can cause social instability with unpredictable consequences.
Party and government officials show concern and point out that the government will need to exhaust its persuasion to MPs and cannot exclude the refusal of some that will further reduce the parliamentary majority power.
