«Help us rebuild this State»
The institutional reform changes for the "new state" were at the heart of the debate between the Minister for Administrative Reform Dimitris Reppas and head of the Task Force for Greece Horst Reichenbach.
The head of the Task Force arrived at the ministry yesterday evening to meet with several ministers as well. After receiving him, Reppas made an extensive review of the changes that have been made in the public sector and mentioned what is scheduled for the coming months.
The change in the public sector as we know it thus far has been the main part of Reppas’ agenda since he took over the Ministry of Administrative Reform. His colleagues have identified that many instances need expertise which the Greek civil servants do not possess. Bringing experience from abroad makes them believe that the government's plans for a more efficient and flexible state will be finalized and implemented as soon as possible. After the meeting it was announced that "as to the realization of the new state, the attendees discussed the provision of expertise and resources to specify the actions and monitor their progress in relation to their goals, as well as the accuracy of estimates on the time and cost of operations and the communication with the necessary institutions of the support mechanism."
Vice ministers of Administrative Reform Rovlias and Tzortzakis, the head of the EC delegation in Greece Panos Karvounis and the director of the EC Ms Georgetta Lali, were also present at the meeting.
