New shocking figures came to the surface about the action of the four
criminal organizations in Thessaloniki, fromwhich 53 people in total
were arrested.
Among the arrests were those of the Head of Special SDOE Affairs of Thessaloniki, Christos Papachatzis and a journalist on ET3, Giorgos Feretis, as well as known businessman and owner of downtown clubs in the city, Markos Karamperis, which makes the case very interesting, as every person in question is well-known in Thessaloniki.
According to official information from the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki, the actions of the four criminal organizations are connected with specific cases of suicide committed by entrepreneurs who were victims of usury.
The case concerns four separate criminal organizations which were connected to one another through a common objective, while they also had victims in common.
At the same time, Swiss accounts are to be opened which contain tens of millions of euros, while hundreds of telephone conversations recorded by Intelligence’s "superbug” are being analyzed. Police believe that the head of the organization was Karamperis. The businessman was included in the LAOS ballot, under Mr. Velopoulos, who is also best man to someone who was involved in the Vatopedi case, whose conversation with lawyer Mr. Koukovinos had seen the light of day.
According to Thessaloniki Director of Security Mr. Athenagoras Pazarlis, the cycle of arrests has been completed and questioning might direct them to new leads. The charges levied against the arrested perpetrators mainly concern their involvement in a criminal organization, usury and extortion, fraud and money laundering.
