Cabinet meeting - Overturning of the political scene

While everything is demonstrating that the government is going to fall and PASOK is in conflict, the intermediate-level members of the party have taken action to open a channel of communication between those who say no to the referendum and the now isolated prime minister. They are suggesting the following:

Papandreou should remain president of PASOK and the PG should elect Evangelos Venizelos as the new prime minister.

Evangelos Venizelos should ask the parties first to vote in favor of the loan agreement, and secondly to create a government of national rescue.

And with this in hand, we should ask our partners to disburse the 6th tranche normally on 15 November.

The elections will be held either directly or within a reasonable time frame, based on the Union's response. Evangelos Venizelos has already prepared the ground with Wolfgang Schaeuble.

If Papandreou does not accept the proposed scenario, it is likely that independence declarations will continue, the government will fall within the day and PASOK will split up.
