The PASOK Parliamentary Group has decreased to 146 seats.

After the negative announcement on the confidence vote by PASOK MP Eva Kaili and Elena Panariti’s message that she will not give a vote of confidence "to a government that is leading the country to disaster", it is clear that Papandreou has lost his parliamentary majority.

At this moment it is unclear whether the process of discussion (and therefore the voting scheduled for Friday) for the vote of confidence will continue, or what the next moves by the prime minister will be.

The initial decoding of his Twitter message moments ago, is that Papandreou is not willing to resign.

Apart from the complete independence declared by Kaili and Panariti, Dimitris Lintzeris and Kostas Kartalis have also differentiated themselves.

"I will not associate my vote with a referendum" stressed Kartalis, and Lintzeris noted that Papandreou belongs to the past.

Following these developments, even if the process of discussion to provide a confidence vote ultimately proceeds, it seems quite certain that Papandreou will fail to receive a positive vote.
