Papoulias: I have good news, we managed to exit from the crisis

Speaking to representatives of Greeks abroad , the President said: "This time, I guess I have good news to tell you: Greece, Greek people, with great sacrifices succeeded in what some thought they wouldn't be able to do it, to exit from crisis. And according to scientific circles, Greece has already exited from the crisis by 75 % -80 %"




Mr Papoulias also said: “Now, the Minister of Finance, Mr Stournaras says that it is the right time to release Greek bonds. This is a great success, due to the sacrifices of the Greek people”.

He continued saying: "But, you also did not stay inactive. You tried to help Greece as much as you could. You encouraged American investors to come to invest in Greece, you created an atmosphere appropriate to enhance the tourism of your second hometown towards Greece . These efforts are more than notable."

"But, you didn't rest on these efforts. You keep on monitoring things that matter for Greece, such as the Cyprus issue, which enters a new phase. But, because entering a new phase, it doesn't mean that the problems doesn't exist anymore. They do exist. And this is due to the Turkish Cypriot side and particularly to Ankara , which persists in issues that are not consistent and not consistent with what was signed by both sides" he said.





"I think that for this one also you shouldn't lay down your weapons. You should monitor, intervene and put some pressure on the sources you have. We need your help. I've watched and recorded your great success also as a Minister of Foreign Affairs in the past, the way you encouraged or forced the Americans to respond in a fair way according to the international law. Our weapon is the rules of international law, complying with the rules of international law."

Also, Papoulias thanked his U.S. counterpart , Barack Obama , for sending a greeting telegram on on March 25, the national anniversary.
