PASOK President Evangelos Venizelos has submitted his proposal to form a government, which will be supported by all the forces who want Greece in the euro with shared national responsibility, in an multi-channel interview on Sunday afternoon, and also in a letter to party leaders that move along these lines, i.e. Antonis Samaras, Alexis Tsipras, Panos Kammenos and Fotis Kouvelis.

Venizelos warned that the country cannot be ruled either by a weak minority or with a large part of society on the opposite side. He said that the Europeans will ask for SYRIZA’s signature, too, for the new revised plan under which the lending to the country will continue, and that he will insist on his position for a government with the support of SYRIZA and ND, in the process of the exploratory mandates. Venizelos said that on June 18 Greek citizens will want a government that will keep the country in the euro, accusing ND and SYRIZA of forming a political deadlock.

He added that regardless of which will be the top party, the 50-seat bonus is not the solution. "You cannot govern with strong opposition in the streets," he said, and noted that PASOK can function as a catalyst in a government of shared national responsibility.

Once again he attacked the factious polarization created by ND and SYRIZA while calling on the Independent Greeks to clarify their attitude to the European perspective of the country and the Democratic Left to clarify how they interpret cooperation.

Venizelos spoke about Juncker’s statement, too, that in Greece rich people do not cry, only the weak. He said that the rich do not cry because they take their money abroad and wait for the collapse and return to the drachma to profit, and repeated his view on the existence of a horizontal party of the drachma.

The PASOK president criticized the attitude of the Troika and the partners as well, who sought signatures from all political forces. "Do not put us in a difficult position, settle with our own", was the PASOK chorus in the negotiations as he said, and added that "now the partners have understood, so we will not be credible if we do not all come together to the negotiation."

He also mentioned finance commissioner Olli Rehn’s interview in today’s Proto Thema, where the Fin official says that there is a memorandum renegotiation every 3 months, saying that “it was us who put in this clause”.

He added that the debt reduction came with no effect on the country and commenting on last night’s developments in Spain, he said that there are negotiations without the presence of Greece due to the absence of a government which, as he estimated, affects the country’s tourism as well.

Venizelos announced a reinvention conference and a new beginning for PASOK and the progressive faction. He said that the new PASOK won’t have barons and internal connections that repel people. He clarified that he received a personal mandate on March 18 to rebuild PASOK and he will honor it. PASOK, he said, was punished in the recent elections. He added that the party’s goal is to move above the previous polling rate, and repeated that the aim is not ministerial thrones.
