Time for Europe to roll up the sleeves and get down to business

Greece is following international financial developments with hidden expectations and a deep feeling of satisfaction. High-ranking officials in the country believe EU leaders have been moving dramatically slow up to now. Most probably, they will suddenly have to begin acting swiftly when the danger reaches their threshold or when the implementation of the latest decisions concerning Greece will need to be put into practice.

Government officials are noting that this is the moment for foreign leaders who used to attack and criticize Greece to realize what this crisis means. “Now”, they say, “George Papandreou’s efforts to save the country will be understood”.

What is more, the leadership in the county finds this domino of reactions convenient for Greece, since it will  doubt drive it to a final destination and a solution to the problem. The issuing of Eurobonds could be a possible solution to take us out of the deadlock, an idea the “paternity” of which both the PASOK leadership and the main opposition party ND are fighting over.
