The government is trying to maintain radio silence in view of the Troika visit and the submission of its mid-term program, especially after the escalating discord expressed by top ministers in recent days.

Thus, according to reports, yesterday's cabinet meeting found ministers only discussing issues on the agenda and not moving to discussions of general political interest, avoiding the usual verbal confrontations.

But in the coming days, especially after today’s scheduled announcement of “Zappeion 2” by New Democracy, government members have realised that they must regroup to refute what Antonis Samaras will announce or denounce.

However, in his address yesterday at the start of the cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister asked of other political forces “during this crisis of not only national, but European dimensions as well, to rise to the occasion and abandon their effortless opportunism”.

Once again he called for a dialogue between parties and authorities. He said: “We invite everyone to effectively participate in developing the roadmap for the country to stand on its feet, with no debt, but with strong and sustainable growth. The denial of dialogue shows fear and lack of responsibility. And times have changed, communities have matured”.
