The chronicle of the massacre

Tuesday at dawn; while pregnant Simona Virgili is ready to give birth, Manolis Kantaris rushes out of the house with a video camera in order to bring his car around and transfer her to the hospital.

The 44 year-old exited his house onn Epiru street and headed for the Ioulianou street parking garage, where his car was. He was attacked on the way by three people. The perpetrators stabbed him on the back at least three times, then continued to stab him in the hands and the neck when he tried to escape. They grabbed the video camera and fled the scene. His wife and mother-in-law decided to wait for him in the street, seeing as he was late. They exited the building and found him there, lying dead. Both women suffered extreme shock, while neighbors called the emergency services. An ambulance carried him to the hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead.

Police have launched a massive manhunt across Athens to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. According to recent data, three unknown perpetrators, probably foreigners (one eyewitness spoke of people with a dark complexion), killed the 44-year-old with a knife. The incident took place at 05:00 AM, Third September Street 57, downtown Athens.
