Arrests for the arson-murders at Marfin Bank

The police has made three arrests in the case of the fire that caused the death of three people and an unborn child at Marfin Bank in May 2010.

The police has made three arrests in the case of the fire that caused the death of three people and an unborn child at Marfin Bank in May 2010.

The arrests took place in the areas of Exarcheia and Kypseli. A 26-year-old man was caught who was n charge of setting on fire the Ianos bookshop opposite the bank, whilst a 21-year-old and a 32-year-old are also under arrest for the arson at the Marfin bank branch.

According to the police, the three men were a team and just outside the Ianos bookshop they split, one of them headed to the bookshop and the other two towards the bank. They are persons who are well know to anarchist circles and there have currently been many investigations in their homes.

The police came to the conclusion that thse three males were responsible for the arson-murders with the help of eye-witness reports, telephone conversations and of course the CCTV footage in several shops along Stadiou street where the incidents took place.

On May 5th 2010, at the Marfin Bank Stadiou Str. branch, three people lost their lives, one of them pregnant. They were Paraskevi Zoulia, 35, Aggeliki Papathanasopoulou, 32 and Epaminondas Tsakalis, 36.
