Aggressive initiatives in order to advertise the lowering of prices in supermarket shelves have been taken by the Minister for Regional Development and Competitiveness, Michalis Chrysochoidis. Specifically, according to exclusive information obtained by protothema.gr, the aim of the minister is that all companies participating now or in the future, will be granted the right to bear the “Initiative for price reduction” tag on their products.

This action rests largely on the logic of “good practice” of industries and supermarkets towards consumers, and should create new conditions in the market since all non-participating companies will face indirect “negative” advertising for not being part of it. At the same time, competition will prove to be more intense since it will be clear which companies are helpful and which are not, during the hard times imposed by the IMF.

Separate trading negotiations on fuel

The same measure will be extended to street markets, particularly in vegetables, while similar initiatives are being considered for fuel, in which sector there is a unique development deal. We should emphasize that this initiative will be original, since through direct observation of prices, consumers will be able to understand and recognize who is helping them and who is not. At the same time, Minister Chrisohoidis will meet with the country’s productive institutions in Caravel Hotel to promote the new development law.
