A prisoner was digging an escape tunnel that would lead to... nowhere!
The wannabe runaway was trying to escape from N. Alikarnassos prison in Crete, but it was all for nothing. The tunnel he was digging in order to get to the prison's basement would lead to... nowhere!
The Argentinian prisoner wasn't careful enough to hide the dirt he was removing from the tunnel he was digging with a sharp object, the source of which remains unknown.
So, when the prison guards searched his cell on the ground floor of the prison they saw it and soon after they discovered the 40 cm deep hole he had already dug.
The detainee was transferred to another cell until they closed the hole, though which he was hoping to reach the basement of the penitentiary, which to his misfortune doesn't exist... in N. Alikarnassos prison!
The detainee was charged with attempted escape and his case file was sent to the Prosecutor of Heraklion.
