Lavrov: We will respond if the Russian interests are threatened
The Russian Foreign Minister gave a direct warning in case Russia's interests are attacked, like they were in South Ossetia
Russia would respond if the interests of its people were attacked or threatened.
This direct warning was given by the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, in an interview about the Ukrainian crisis.
"If we are attacked, we would certainly respond. If our interests, our legitimate interests, the interests of Russians have been attacked directly, like they were in South Ossetia, I do not see any other way but to respond in full accordance with international law", said the head of Russian diplomacy.
The Russian minister also accused the US of running the show in Ukraine. To support this claim, he referred to the coincidence of the re-launch of the “anti-terrorist” operation in eastern Ukraine with the visit of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden to the country.
Talking about the presence of Russian troops along Ukraine's borders, Mr. Lavrov argued that in no case did the Russian units cross the border, stressing that they remained on Russian soil.
