Olli Rehn: Troika is necessary for the eurozone problems
The European Commission is rushing to defend the Troika via Olli Rehn, thus refuting the calls for its breaking up.

"Troika is essential in managing the problems of the eurozone," the Monetary Affairs Commissioner told Reuters.

He added that the expertise of the Troika members remains important for the EU response to the debt crisis that is plaguing the continent.

"None of these situations is easy," he said, referring to the bailout programs implemented in Greece, Portugal, Ireland and Cyprus and supervised by Troika.

"But this makes even more important the fact that we must be able to utilize the combined and complementary expertise of the three institutions," he added.
