4,800 civil servants for redundancy in September

The Ministry of Administrative Reform is working on scenarios for redundancy in order to complete the list with 12,500 employees that will have to be removed in September.

As "Ethnos" newspaper writes today, Monday, the Greek government has decided upon the first wave of 4,260 employees who will be suspended until the end of July, which according to the Finance Ministry multi-bill will come from removing 1,976 teachers in technical education, 2,234 school guards and 50 drivers and technicians of the Administrative Reform ministry.

For the remaining 8,296 employees of September the government has decided for the 3,496 municipal police officers and the ministry is drafting scenarios for another 4,800 employees who will enter redundancy:

- 350 engineers from building infrastructures

- 1000 IGME and OEK employees

- 1,270 field guards

- 1,956 Olympic education teachers

- 1,000 employees from the Health directorates

- 700 teachers

- 5,000 to 6,000 local government employees.
