Police academies will be padlocked for the next 2 years, as they will stop admitting any newcomers due to a regulation of the mid-term plan that provides for “no hiring in the ministry of Public Order.

Police academies will be padlocked for the next 2 years, as they will stop admitting any newcomers due to a regulation of the mid-term plan that provides for “no hiring in the ministry of Public Order.
This development is forcing students, who were planning to sit exams in order to join the police force, to choose other university departments.
According to media reports, ministry officials have no official position on the matter; however, as everything indicates, the regulation for no new inductions will apply, given that students in police academies are hired and paid from the first day they join the police.
The law stipulates that schools will once again accept new students in 2015 and 2016, the number of which will be equal to the 2012 levels; that is, 580 people from all over Greece.
