Turkish frigate in Mykonos!

The Turkish frigate "Gokova" is at this moment sailing in the sea area between Tinos and Mykonos. It is soon expected to pass the Strait of Kafireas and is being watched by a Hellenic Navy frigate. The Turkish warship has trespassed on Greek territorial waters and violated the rules of innocent passage.

Since Wednesday morning "Gokova" has sailed almost half of the Aegean. The provocative voyage of the Turkish warship, which was located in the eastern Mediterranean, began the morning in the area between Kasos and Crete. Then it moved northwest of Crete, passed between Folegandros and Milos and continued to Tinos and Mykonos, where it sailed at around 7 pm. At this point it is headed for Cavo Doro.

Ankara's move to send a warship near the Greek coast of the Aegean islands in a period which is considered the heart of the tourist season, raised concern in the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense. Needless to say that with the provocative crossing of the Aegean, the Turkish side is violating the moratorium on carrying out military exercises during the summer months.
