Kouvelis says "no" to PASOK-ND

Democratic Left President Fotis Kouvelis refused to participate in a coalition government of PASOK-ND, after meeting with Antonis Samaras on Monday afternoon.

As Mr. Kouvelis explained, his party opposes the policy that “was strongly disapproved of by popular verdict”, adding that “a disguised ND-PASOK coalition will not be in harmony with the election message and the mandate of citizens”.

“For us the binary pole we set before elections is absolute: A government of broad popular legitimacy should ensure Greece’s stay in the Eurozone and move to a disengagement from the memorandum”, stated Fotis Kouvelis.

Regarding Alexis Tsipras’ proposal, Mr. Kouvelis stated he expects concrete proposals from SYRIZA.

“When we talk of a proposal towards progressive forces, we obviously include the forces of the Left and we come in such a political mood. We therefore expect clean and clear proposals according to our position”, he stated.
