Five days after Pavlos Geroulanos' resignation, PM Lucas Papademos said he does not accept the resignation of the minister of Culture.
Geroulanos tendered his resignation last Friday, February 17, after the revelation of the great looting in the unguarded museum of Ancient Olympia. Colleagues of the PM said he did for reasons of dignity.
The maneuvre chosen by the government, that is to announce that the PM does not accept Geroulanos' resignation five days later, is reminiscent of the theater of the absurd.
During the meeting earlier today, Papademos asked Geroulanos to exhaust all possibilities for the solving of the great robbery case, to be kept informed about the investigation and for severity in the investigations.
According to a government announcement, they also discussed issues of contemporary culture and tourism and the initiatives that will be undertaken in these areas.
