Complete collapse is expected for tomorrow in both the public and the
private sectors, due to the 24hr Panhellenic strike by GSEE and ADEDY.
Serious problems for transportation, aviation, hospitals, schools, universities, ports and courts.
OSE and suburban trains will remain docked, as the Panhellenic Federation of Railroad workers decided to take part in the strike.
The meeting of ETHEL workers regarding their course of action concluded late on Monday afternoon but without a specific decision.
Metro workers are also heading toward a strike, but have been receiving proposals from unions to operate in the crucial hours to help people reach the centre of Athens and take part in the demonstration.
Serious problems are also expected in flights, as Air Traffic Controlers decided to join the strike. Aegean Airlines has already announced that all its flights for Wednesday are cancelled, while changes should be expected for Thursday as well.
Public hospitals will operate with emergency staff as doctors and workers are taking part in the 24hr strike, protesting against redundancy and cuts in wages and pensions. Personnel from Health Centres, EKAB, Treatment Centers for Chronic Diseases and Health Care Services will also join in.

Problems will arise for ports too, as the Federation of Port Employees (OMYLE) and the Dockworkers Union will strike as well. Since mid September, OMYLE has announced that ports are operating with grave staff shortages on a daily basis and are not funded by the state budget.
Many problems are expected for schools as well, since teachers have decided to participate in tomorrow’s demonstrations, as well as those on October 19. TEI teachers will also join them, protesting about shortages in temporary teaching staff, and requesting the appointment of all selected members of teaching staff that have been waiting for the past two years, and the immediate announcement of the vacated positions due to retirement.
By decision of the steering committee of the Association of Lawyers, they will also participate in the nationwide strike. They are complaining about “the imposition of trade tax fee, special contribution fee, the supposed deregulation of the legal profession, the imposition of objective criteria for taxation, the reduction of the tax free threshold and the 23% VAT tax.”
Stores will shut down as ESEE is calling upon all traders to participate in the demonstrations that commence tomorrow, Wednesday, and will peak on October 19.
