flooded the market. Although rates have improved in comparison to the
arbitrariness that prevailed in 2010. According to data from SEPE, about
7.500 fewer companies did any hiring during the first five months of
2011.
And among these hirings, permanent employment positions decreased by 60.328 compared to 2010. This means that 4 out of 10 were hired in a flexible form of employment, for a few hours or a few days per week with a correspondingly smaller wage.
Specifically, there were 157.700 full-time recruitments, 81.455 part-time ones and 22.813 rotation ones.
The phenomenon of the conversion of full-time contracts to flexible forms of rotation work by the unilateral decision of the employer is growing to dramatic proportions.
Particularly, 13.210 positions were converted to part-time (8.236 more than 2010), 8.690 into rotational (7.558 more than 2010), and, most worryingly, 2.741 into rotational but without the consent of the employee, who did not react under the threat of redundancy (2.668 more than 2010, 5.071 in percentage).
Top of the list in flexible forms of employment is Thessaloniki (3.851 positions), followed by the Dodecanese, Irakleio, Achaia, Kozani and Grevena.
