Dramatic developments in the city center, following the decision of the occupying immigrants to remain in the Law School building.

Solonos Street has been blocked by vans and riot squads, while coaches that had moved in to transport the immigrants elsewhere, departed empty.

Indicative of the tension that exists in the Law School is the fact that there is a Theater Convention taking place in the Propylae, the participants of which have been informed they have to stop the convention and evacuate. Limited riots have occurred in the neighbouring area of Exarhia, since there have been people that have gathered around the Law School to support the immigrants.

The Proctor is meeting behind closed doors while, as reported by the Athenian News Agency, the head of the First Instance Court Prosecutor, Helen Raikou, received a request from the Proctor of the University to allow the intervention of the police in order to evacuate the area.

A few minutes ago a representative of the immigrants, in front of the camera of protothema.gr warned the Minister of Citizen Protection Mr.Papoutsis, “If you make the mistake of entering, bring coffins with you. We will not leave this place alive!”

The Metro is still operating but there is not a stop at Panepistimio station, situated close to the Law School.

The District Attorney arrived around 7pm at the university but was not allowed to enter. The police has blocked all entrances and exits, since suspicious persons were lurking in the area.

Mrs Papariga, president of the Greek communist Party KKE, had a phone conversation with the Minister Mr.Papoutsis and asked for no violence towards the immigrants.
