New law to prevent fraud

A new law that aims at wiping out all “grey areas of the corrupt side of the State” has been announced by Minister of Internal Affairs Giannis Ragousis.

The law will endeavour to clarify all assets that members of Parliament have from the moment they enter politics, as well as the assets and funds of all political parties. There will be a scientific committee created to present proposals to the Parliament.

The new law will impose stricter fines and even divest errant MPs of their parliamentary office. Changes will include: retrospective inquiries into the assets of all members of Parliament, less funding to political parties and special rules for their spending. There will also be a discussion on whether or not all Parties will be able to receive loans from the State.
