4000 drivers passed the Malgara tolls without paying

The Sunday citizen action at the Malgara toll station worked to the benefit of more than 4000 drivers who, from 11:30 am until 3 pm, found the toll bars raised, clearing the way in an effort to protest about the 40% increase in tolls to a total of 2.80 Euro.

The coordinator of the protest, Giorgos Kitidis, a member of the Voluntary Action Team of the District of Pieria, stated:
"We had a total of 1000 leaflets that presented the 'recipe' to raising the toll bars. We were handing them out to the drivers passing through the toll station at Malgara. The leaflets ran out within the first hour of our stay".

Marking the warm reception to the action, Mr. Kitidis spoke of a zenith in protests in the near future.
