Police officer took his own life under the weight of false indictment

A 48yo police officer, father of two, was targeted by the «incorruptibles» of the Greek police, after the accusation of an illegal immigrant that he was involved in slave trafficking! Unable to handle the shame and not having any proof of innocence he killed himself with his police pistol!

The officer, serving at Niki customs, was found dead in his car, with a self-written note by his side addressed to his wife, claiming his innocence and that he was unable to deal with this ethical issue.

It all started the previous Wednesday, when officers from Niki Police Station arrested a group of Albanians. In the preliminary inquiry, it is said that one of them pointed out the 48yo as the trafficker who would take them to a safe place.

Internal Affairs were informed and they started the investigation immediately. And while the police officer denied the accusations from the start, he took his own life the next day just after setting off to work.
