EuroWorking Group approves 6.3 bn euro tranche

The first good news from the EuroWorking Group meeting in Brussels, is already out. According to sources, the members of the Eurozone working group preparing the Eurogroup meeting of May 5th gave the "green light" for the release of the 6.3 billion euro tranche for our country.

At the same time, the meeting is expected to consider the issue of Greek debt relief after Eurostat's seal of approval on Wednesday, of the 2013 primary surplus, even though the Greek side is keeping a low profile, seeing as Yannis Stournaras is aware that an announcement alone is not an immediate free pass on the road of the achievement of a comprehensive settlement of the debt, as European partners have agreed.

The fact that Euro elections campaigns are under way is keeping the Greek side inwardly optimistic. The Finance Minister is aware that the talks will culminate after the elections and any permanent solution may come as late as autumn.
