As an important first step towards defusing the situation described Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Venizelos the agreement reached at the quadrilateral meeting (U.S., Russia, EU, Ukraine) in Geneva on Ukraine.
"The points agreed on in Geneva are an important first step towards de-escalating the situation and shaping the conditions for overcoming the crisis in Ukraine", said Mr Venizelos on behalf of the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union. He also went on to add that "What is important now is the conscientious implementation of everything agreed upon, so that a climate of trust and a sense of security can be restored on all levels".
