SYRIZA is trying to regain its lost stride after the results of the polls in recent days that not only do not show an increase in the difference from Samaras’ New Democracy but that the momentum the main oposition party had in the previous period is vanishing.
The main causes of this decline are the wrong handling and intense intraparty reactions around the choices of candidates for regional elections, but especially the statements made by top executives like George Stathakis on debt and the raising of taxes, which caused confusion in public opinion, even to members and voters of the party.
The risk of SYRIZA losing its course and a clear framework which would take the party to the elections and the feeling that it leaves the logic of conflicts and adopts a compromising "right" strategy, are forcing the party leadership to review its strategy.
Alexis Tsipras on the Sunday edition of Vima newspaper and SYRIZA government program manager Yannis Dragasakis reintroduced the possibility of unilateral actions in the tackling of the debt. Both clarified that there is no exit option from the euro, but if the country is pressed to continue its policy of austerity, then the servicing of the debt will stop too.
Along with this shift to the left, Tsipras is trying to give the impression that his party is a pending government after saying for the first time he will attempt to blockade the Republic presidential election in 2015, which means that the government will have a specific horizon.

On the intraparty matters front the SYRIZA president requested a moratorium on the left wing, as "all will be judged in ninety days up to the battle of the European elections that will remove the political establishment of the current government."
