The meeting of the Parliamentary Group and the Executive Committee of Democratic Left (DIMAR) BEGAN Shortly after 11:00 a.m., in order to reach final decisions about the attitude the party will keep against the government.
During the meeting, the ministers and vice ministers of DIMAR that participate in the coalition government, agreed to resign from cabinet. "That’s it, I am leaving the government," Health Minister Fotini Skopouli said, while leaving from the meeting as well.
According to information, members of the party spoke about the form of relationships that DIMAR will henceforth maintain with the Greek government, and that the party will take responsible positions on all matters.
Members Vasilis Oikonomou and Grigoris Psarianos disagreed openly with the line of separation from the government, with the first even claiming that DIMAR should remain in the government body and support reforms.
DIMAR will withdraw its ministers from the government, Chatzisokratis said at ANT1 television. As he clarified, the organs of the party will decide on the appropriate course of action in parliament against the government.
The different attitudes that prevail within the DIMAR camp were revealed by today’s current attitudes and positions by party members on television but also through social networking sites.
In a posting on his facebook page, Nikos Bistis said about the chairman of the Democratic Left: "Kouvelis today concluded the absurdity started two weeks ago by Samaras. Both without a plan, without collectedness, have put Greece into trouble," calling Evangelos Venizelos as the voice of reason.
