Stournaras: SYRIZA fiscal proposal is unrealistic
Greek Finance ministry describes SYRIZA’s fiscal proposal as ‘unrealistic, with unspecified costs and incomplete.’

As it says in its relevant announcement, the proposals of the opposition have as a common denominator ‘the infamous perception of “money exists”, which it locates in the tax avoidance and evasion, without saying how much there is, how much it will get, when and how. They say they will abolish tax exemptions, discounts, etc. Which ones exactly? Could it be those for farmers, for islands and border areas, or donations? They say they will tax businesses and promote the concept they will take it from the rich. They forget or ignores that today, 3% of taxpayers who have the 15% of incomes pay the 35% of taxes.’

‘SYRIZA unveiled a program that is not in its final form, that refers to undisclosed planned taxes, in vague intentions and anti-development plans. The worst is that the funding gap created by their erratic proposal, will be covered by other measures,’ the Finance ministry adds.
