Fotopoulos threatens with a blackout
Regarding the government's intention to privatize units of the company, GENOP-PPC responds by threatening to leave the Greek households without electricity. Indicative of the situation is the fact that these days the demand for electricity has risen sharply, making the units of the PPC and individuals operate on a full time basis. Market factors believe that if some plants fall short in the production due to strikes, then we may have an extended power outtage.

They also say that "if the government proves that by privatizing the PPC or selling out several of its parts, tomorrow the consumer will have a cheaper kilowatt per hour, then we will agree that the privatization be carried out on the same day." They also speak of a "of an orgy of black propaganda and distortion of the positions of the confederation on the planned sale of the last large public company."
