Samaras: Our mission is to change policy and stay inside the Eurozone

Samaras arrived at the Presidential Mansion believing the country must avoid being left ungoverned.

“The Greeks not only sent us a message to work together, but also want to see us keeping the country in the Eurozone, with the help of a viable government”.

He appears willing to leave his personal ambitions aside; thus, it is now up to Tsipras and SYRIZA to assume command and drive Greece away from the stalemate it has reached.

Samaras says he will agree to a coalition government but under three conditions:
•   The scheme must safeguard Greece's stay in the EU
•   There must be a re-negotiation on the amendment of economic policy
•   SYRIZA must assume responsibility by granting a tolerance vote

In this framework we could have a coalition scheme of ND-PASOK and DIMAR, with SYRIZA abandoning its wish for a new election round and supporting the new government, even if they will insist on not participating in it.

At this point, all three political powers able to form a government agree that SYRIZA is holding them back by being the stubborn party.

ND considers going to new polls dangerous as the instability would be prolonged. However, in case Greece is led to this direction, he suggests a “right-wing arc opposite the left-wing anti-European front”.
