Glezos: Compulsory loan to the state for incomes above 20,000
A symbolic figure of the Left, Manolis Glezos, proposed earlier today a way that could help the state earn money, saying that citizens with more than 20,000 euros in annual income could each help the country with 100 euros per month.

The measure will be mandatory for certain people, while low-paid citizens will be given the choice to act as they wish.

Glezos’ suggestion caused an uproar amid the political world of Greece. Adonis Georgiadis of ND said that such a measure practically means sequestration.

Although Glezos avoided using the term, he underlined that this tactic has been used before in Greece, in emergency situations. Also, he clarified that this is about domestic borrowing and not stricter taxation.
