A substantive meeting was promised for Wednesday between PASOK president Evangelos Venizelos and SYRIZA president Alexis Tsipras.
The only condition is, according to Mr. Venizelos, that Greece is not found to be exiting Europe, and that things will be better for the people and not worse.
“Mr. Tsipras can look forward to our meeting tomorrow,” he characteristically stated, promising that “it will be substantial”.
He added that the tough negotiation should not be “among us, with an eye on elections” but outwards, “against interests, speculators and markets”.
“Let them keep their appetite for arguing for the playing field, not for party matters of expediency dialogue. We want to overcome the impasse. It is not time for national divisions in the name of partisan or political purposes”, stated Venizelos.
He finally called on citizens to support PASOK’s proposal for a government of national unity of the forces who want the country in the Eurozone and Europe with the best possible terms, saying that it is “patriotic” and “realistic”.
