10,000 credit cards from tax havens caught by the Finance ministry
The Finance ministry has identified the names of 10,000 families of Greek residents who do not have high incomes but have a large turnover with credit cards issued in EU countries such as Cyprus and Luxembourg, but also in tax havens like the Cayman Islands.

They are businessmen, doctors and lawyers, of limited income but with credit cards without limits or up to 10,000 euros. The Financial Crime unit has estimated that taxpayers have been transferring large sums in bank accounts abroad since 2009, but through their cards they are spending outrageously large amounts for purchases of consumer goods by luxury brands like L. Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, etc.

And now they will have to face property statement audits by the Finance ministry, to determine if these large amounts of transactions and remittances they have made to foreign banks are justified by their declared income.
