UPD:
Broader political dimensions are assigned by ND to yesterday’s debate in Parliament about the bill which would promote prison relief, declaring that “ND does not hand out any cartes blanches, and a transitional government’s ministers cannot do whatever they want”.
In his statement, party representative Mr. Yiannis Michelakis stated that ND president Antonis Samaras made it clear that ND is supporting the specific mission of the Papademos government, which is the completion of the PSI, a new loan agreement and the national elections thereafter.
He added that “Mr. Samaras will give no one a carte blanche and will not support moves which are outside the specific purpose of the government and also collide with the principles and positions of the party”.
He clarified that “unilateral choices and decisions such as the ones Mr. Papaioannou tried to impose yesterday are not acceptable. This applies to all issues raised by ministers, e.g. illegal migration, drugs, construction of houses outside the city plan, judgments in security forces and the appointment of general managers in ministries”.
Finally, he warns : “This principle of ours is one no one should try to violate”.
